This Jivamukti workshop will consist of flowing vinyasa sequences partnered with Sanskrit chanting, traditional Vedic and contemporary teachings and commentary, breath awareness, meditation, hands-on alignment, and relaxation.
Sharon Gannon presents a multifaceted world of yoga addicts, vegetarians, vegans, and animal lovers in her book Yoga and Vegetarianism: Global and Personal Transformation, Spiritual Practice and Enlightened Activism (Mandala Publishing, November 2008), in which she explores how the physical and spiritual practice of yoga is historically and structurally tied to a vegetarian lifestyle. Drawing upon her studies of Vedic traditions, she recognizes the integral nature of yoga and vegetarianism, both forming a framework for physical and spiritual attunement that when practiced as a whole provides incomparably healthy lifestyle. She emphasizes the need to adhere to a strict vegetarian diet free of needless cruelty, harm and justice.In this workshop, Sharon will lead a 2-hour Jivamukti practice from 7pm-9pm followed by a reading and book signing from 9pm-10pm. $75. |

| Khentrul Lodroe T’haye Rinpoche graces us with his teachings at Ubuntu Yoga Studio! Death and Dying From the Buddhist perspective: Since dying is inevitable, it is considered crucial to prepare oneself for it. For this reason, it is important to learn about the dying process and even more important to learn how to die with ease in a peaceful way. This evening Khentrul Lodro Thaye Rinpoche will give a teaching on how to practice at the time of death and what takes place for us as we experience it, as well as what comes after death.$20 donation suggested.This is a public speaking brought to us by Deana who is hosting Rinpoche. | This in-depth workshop will address the power of Yoga as a life practice and what that means in our 21st Century world. The ancient practice is not the same as it was over 100 years ago, which is why most modern-day practitioners only experience the physical aspects of Yoga without realizing the deeper impact it can make on our chaotic lives.We will look at how to transform the poses and breathing that feel so good and give us such energy into a sustainable practice that can infuse our daily-life and affect not only ourselves but other in the most positive way.This is an experiential workshop integrated with space and time to enter into discussion. We will share our insights of what works and what needs tweaking in order to create a personal yoga practice or shape an existing practice into a more profound awakening.All levels are invited to attend, though an open enthusiasm to an alternative viewpoint of Yoga is recommended.Space will be limited in numbers to provide group discussion, please pre-register early.
